A woman killed in a horrific fire which ripped through her family home has been identified as mother-of-two Naomi Richings.
Emergency services rushed to the Pimpala Place home in Orange, in the NSW Central Tablelands, about 5.45am Saturday to find the property alight.
Ms Richings was found unresponsive in the front room of the home and couldn’t be revived.
Her husband James escaped but suffered burns when he re-entered the building to try and rescue his wife and their two children, aged nine and 10, from the blaze.
Firefighters rescued the children and all three were rushed to Orange Base Hospital.
A crime scene was established around the property as fire investigators try to determine the cause of the inferno.
As of Sunday morning the cause is still yet to be determined.
Harrowing photos from the scene show extensive damage to the family home, with blown-out windows, gutted rooms, and significant roof damage.
Fire and Rescue NSW Acting Superintendent Dane Philippe addressed media at the scene, using the opportunity to remind households across the state to check their smoke alarms are in working order.
“The number one message for us is about making sure you have a working smoke alarm inside your property will save your life,” he said.
“Second point is about having a home escape plan so make sure yourself and your family know what to do if the worst of circumstances do occur.”
