The Hills: New Beginnings star Mischa Barton has split from her boyfriend, James Abercrombie after two years together.

Barton and Abercrombie met at a party in Los Angeles back in 2017. He is an Australian model, who is also the son of Andrew Abercrombie. No not the man behind the famous fashion brand but rather the founder and chairman of Australian financial services company FlexiGroup.

During their time together the couple was often spotted out and about in New York City. Barton tried to keep the relationship on the down-low. She was fond of the model. However, since she is attempting to make a career comeback, the actress decided it was time to go solo.

“Mischa and James are over. The reason she broke up with him is to focus on her career. This is the first time Mischa is actually having a second life in her career, and she wants to focus on it. That’s the reason she broke up with him,” a source close to The O.C. alum shared with E! News.

After rising to fame on the Fox drama in 2004 and being under extreme scrutiny in the public eye, Barton has spent the last few years away from the spotlight. She admitted on the premiere episode of The Hills revival that she moved to New York to get a break from fame.

Barton parted ways with her manager mom last year and is ready for a career comeback. The 33-year has been documenting her move back to Los Angeles, as well as getting back into the acting world on the MTV show. It is reportedly one of the main reasons she was cast on the revival.

The news of Mischa Barton and James Abercrombie breakup comes on the same day it was revealed the actress has signed with a new manager. Alex Kovacs at Untitled Entertainment has taken on Barton and the revival of her career.

Since dramatically leaving The O.C. Barton has mostly been featured in small indie films, and a couple of reality T.V. shows such as Dancing With The Stars. Looks like she is focused on taking her career to a new level and her model boyfriend was not part of that plan.
