She is the daughter of FIDE Master Michael Shahade and the sister of Grandmaster Gregory Shahade. Shahade is a two-time U.S. Women's Chess Champion, winning in 2002 and 2008. She is also a commentator for the Chess.com Grandmaster Blitz Battle Championship and the U.S. Chess Championship. In addition to her chess career, Shahade is also a professional poker player. She has won two World Series of Poker bracelets and has cashed in numerous other tournaments. Shahade is also an author, having written Chess Bitch: Women in the Ultimate Intellectual Sport and Play Like a Girl. She is also the co-founder of the U.S. Chess Women's Program.
