Jonny Glenn believes in the power of music. The artist has been working hard to create the best song that he and his fans can relate to.

Glenn is a Pop/R&B artist who began his journey with “Sail Away”, a single that debuted on iTunes chart (Pop 200) at #126.

Recently, the singer/songwriter released his track “All Fall Down” in collaboration with social media influencer and LGBT activist Ally Hills. He also teamed up with Just Juice who had been seen with Logic and Lil Yatchy.

CelebMix talked to the singer about his journey and his new songs “All Fall Down” and “Wasted”. Check out the complete interview below:

1. Please tell our readers a bit about yourself.

I’m an artist based out of Boston. I was born in Charleston, South Carolina but made my way up to Boston 4 or 5 years ago.

2. More than hard work, it takes courage to work on and fulfill our dreams. What has motivated you to stick to your dream throughout your journey?

I’m convinced so greatly that this is why I’m on the earth – to perform and make music. That’s what keeps me on my path.

3. Considering that you are just starting out, what kind of challenges do you face as a person or as an artist?

I’m not really just starting out but as an artist, you always face people that doubt you and tell you that what you’re doing is wrong or impossible. You just kind of have to roll with the doubters and use that as motivation to keep going.

4. What does music means to you? Do you have idols who you look up to as inspirations?

Music is everything to me. The best way of expression. A way to heal or have fun. I look up to Eddie Vedder, Paul McCartney, Elton John. They write such simple but meaningful songs. I think that’s a great talent – writing something with so much meaning yet is so simple to understand.

5. In the near future, what kind of styles would you want to experiment or challenge yourself with?

My first 3 singles have been pretty poppy but my next releases are going to be heavier darker songs. Still pop but with some darker/hip-hop undertones.

6. As a songwriter, what kind of creative process do you follow to work on your tracks?

The process always changes. Sometimes it’s planned and I’ll sit down over tracks and write, sometimes you get with other writers and producers and see what you can do as a team. What’s really weird is when stuff just comes to you while you’re walking or trying to sleep or something. Sometimes melodies or words just pop into my head. I immediately whip out my phone and hum or say the words into my voice recorder. All of the time though, it usually starts with a story or feeling I want to express before sitting down with chords.

7. Your social media presence is quite strong and you are still building your audience base, I guess. So, what role do you think social media has played in helping you reach out to your audience?

Social media has allowed me to get my music out to places I never thought I’d reach. I’ve had people message me listening to my tracks all the way from Brazil to East Asia. It’s pretty cool to see. We’ve had people in the states drive hours to come to see shows in Boston just off of word from Instagram. Cool stuff to watch it build.

8. It’s been just a few months since you released “All Fall Down”. Please tell our readers a bit about the single.

All Fall Down is a song about me and a former “friend” that were together for a few years. Toward the end of our time, we would break up, get back together, and repeat the cycle again. There would be a massive rush of emotion “treating my bed like a playground” but in the end, we would “fall down.” It was a recap of the end of our relationship.

9. The single has laid back tune and it blends well with your and Ally’s vocals. But more than the vocals, it’s the collaboration of three complete unique personalities that makes the song quite an interesting piece. So, how did the collaboration come about?

I was studying at Boston University late at night in a pretty quiet study room on the 26th floor of our dorm when all of the sudden the lights turned off for the whole floor. 3 figures emerged from a hallway that led to the elevators that were very shadowy, one larger than the others. They started approaching me. I thought I was about to get jumped or something. They turned out to be Juice and 2 of his friends and needed the light lower to take pics. They asked if we could go play some music in our room and I said yeah. The rest is history. We became friends and I’ve been wanting to do a song with him for like 2-3 years and it finally happened. Regarding Ally, I’ve loved her stuff and known about her through some friends that follow her religiously so that was kind of a dream come true when we reached out and she said yes.

10. Today, you will be releasing “Wasted” too. We would love to know about the single. What aspects of yours will we be encountering in the single?

Wasted is a fun, catchy jam. Simple vocals, but has a few big notes that really make it stick in your head. It’s fun writing too. I’m really happy with it.

11. Would you like to share with us your future projects or endeavours?

I have some cool songs brewing. Again, darker than what I’ve released so far. I’m pretty excited to show that side of me.
