Daniel Michael DeVito Jr. also known as Danny DeVito, in short, is an actor/comedian/director/producer/screenwriter based in America. He gained attention from the role of Louie De Palma; a taxi dispatcher in the T.V. series Taxi. For his performance in the show, Danny DeVito has won a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award. Early lifestyle

Born to Daniel DeVito Sr.; a business owner and Julia DeVito on 17th November 1944 in Neptune Township, New Jersey, Daniel is the youngest of the three children. Daniel is a Catholic of Italian descent. He spent his childhood in Asbury Park. He completed his high school graduation from Oratory Preparatory School in the summit, New Jersey in 1962. He graduated in 1966 from American Academy of Dramatic Arts from where he is an alumni. He had appeared with the Colonnades Theater Lab at Eugene O’Neil Theater Center, Waterford.

Film and theatre

Danny DeVito debut movie was the 1975 film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, a role which he had performed before in a Broadway Play having the same title. This movie is 8.7 rated in IMDb. He then appeared at the series Taxi, which won him two prestigious awards. He was also featured in 1983 film Terms of Endearment and in Romancing the Stone as Ralph in 1984. He, alongside Bette Midler and Judge Reinhold, starred in the 1986 film Ruthless People. His next movie was Throw momma from the train; a dark comedy which he directed.

His other works are The War of the Roses, Other People’s Money, Tin Men, Junior, Twins, batman Returns in 1992 and Matilda in 1996. His work taking up dramatic roles include Hoffa in 1992, Jack The Bear in 1993, The Rainmaker in 1997, L.A. Confidential in 1997, Heist in 2001 and The Big Kahuna in 1999.

He debuted in the West End acting from Neil Simon’s play The Sunshine Boys. His Broadway debut was from the play The Price in which he took the role of Gregory Solomon.

Danny DeVito started Jersey Films in 1991 under which he has produces films like Pulp Fiction, Gattaca, Garden State, Get Shorty and Erin Brockovich. The company has also produced the Television series Reno 911!.
